In 1981 the merchant of the first guild Stakheyev came to the village of Petrovka of Sarmanovsky district. He decided to build a plant producing crude alcohol on the slope of the hill near the springs. It took him 5 years to build it and in 1896 the first crude alcohol was produced. The plant was called Petrovsky Distillery.
Originally the enterprise was built as a spirit plant but later on a liqueur and vodka department was opened where vodka was bottled manually.
Much has changed since then: the production of alcohol and vodka has increased, many technological operations have been mechanized.
As a result of anti-alcohol policy in the 1980-ies alcohol production was stopped and in 1988 the plant began to produce maltose treacle and in 1990 – extrusion starch and foodstuffs.
During the period of demonopolization of distilleries Sarmanovsky Distillery began to work at its full capacity.
Till September 1, 1996 the plant had been a large enterprise but then alcohol and vodka production were separated and two plants were created – “Petrovsky Distillery” that produced vodka and “Sarmanovsky Distillery” that produced alcohol (of higher purification, “Extra”, “De luxe” grades). In 2000 according to the government decree the amalgamation of the two plants with the formation of State Unitary Enterprise “Sarmanovsky Distillery” took place.
Since 1997 the modernization of technological scheme and production building has been carried out at Sarmanovsky Distillery.
Sarmanovsky Distillery is the first enterprise of the associate that has mastered modern technology of low-temperature cooking that allows to increase alcohol yield from a ton of starch, to save energy supply and to improve physical-chemical and organoleptic characteristics of alcohol of “Extra” and “De luxe” grades. The combination of spring water with high-quality alcohol makes it possible to produce first-class vodka that obtains recognition at international exhibitions and degustation contests.
